Introducing Dome's New CFO & Shareholder, Nicole Matoza!

I’m most excited about the opportunity to shape Dome’s future through forward-thinking financial leadership, long-term planning, and empowering others to succeed.”
We’re excited to announce Nicole’s promotion to Chief Financial Officer and Shareholder at Dome Construction! With more than a decade of experience in both public and private construction accounting, Nicole brings a thoughtful, forward-thinking approach to financial leadership and a deep passion for building strong teams and lasting impact.
Nicole’s path into construction may have started by chance, but staying was a conscious choice. After graduating from Chico State with a degree in Accounting, she started her career in public accounting, focusing on financial services for construction clients. It wasn’t long before she transitioned into the private sector, where she honed her expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and financial risk management. That work eventually led her to Dome, a leap of faith that brought her from Sacramento to San Francisco and turned out to be, as she says, “the best decision I’ve ever made.”
Now, as CFO, Nicole leads Dome’s financial strategy, long-term planning, and operational efficiency. “This role allows me to think strategically about where we’re headed as a company and how Finance can support that journey,” she said. “I’m most excited about long-term planning and the forecasting models we’re building to support sustainable growth and profitability.”
Nicole is also focused on supporting cross-departmental collaboration and scaling Dome’s success. “We’ve implemented a lot of change and process improvements over the last six years,” she shared. “It’s been challenging at times, but incredibly rewarding. I’m proud of the high-performing finance and accounting team we’ve built—a team that drives both accuracy and efficiency across the company.”
What sets Nicole apart is her ability to see beyond the numbers. “At the end of the day, what I love most is the people,” she said. “Dome has a transparent, supportive culture, and I get to work alongside some incredibly talented individuals who are passionate about what they do.”
That culture—and the support of key mentors—has played a major role in her journey. “As I step into this new role, I want to express my deepest gratitude to Fran O’Sullivan, my predecessor and mentor. Her guidance and belief in me have been foundational to my growth over the years.”
Nicole’s vision as CFO is grounded in purpose: shaping the future of Dome through financial stability, empowering others, and always staying curious. “I’m committed to growing as a leader, staying ahead of industry trends, and bringing forward-thinking leadership to the table.”
Built on Mentorship and Momentum: Nicole Through the Eyes of Her Team
Nicole’s leadership has left a lasting impression on those who’ve had the opportunity to work alongside her. Stephani Richardson, who has collaborated closely with Nicole in recent years, shared, “I’ve gained so much insight from Nicole’s leadership over the past few years. I really admire her dedication, commitment, and the thoughtful, strategic way she approaches challenges. This next chapter at Dome Construction is so well-deserved and I’m excited to see the great things ahead for her.”
Reflecting on their shared journey, Nikki Johnston, Dome’s AP Supervisor, said, “I had the privilege of starting my professional journey with Nicole eight years ago, and it’s hard to believe how much time has passed! Throughout the years, I’ve admired her unwavering work ethic and her determination to achieve anything she sets out to do. I’m grateful for the guidance, support, and mentorship she has so generously provided, her influence has played a meaningful role in shaping my career.”
Reflecting on what Nicole’s promotion means for the future of the company, Chief Business Officer Mike Firenze shared, “Nicole’s ability to assess a situation and approach solutions from multiple angles never fails to impress me. She cares deeply about her team and about Dome. We’re incredibly fortunate to have her.”
Congratulations, Nicole!

Did you know?
More about Nicole!
How would you define yourself in three words?
Hard Working, Loyal, and Consistent
What makes you smile the most?
Currently, it’s the baby girl that we are about to bring into the world. I can’t get enough of her wiggles and little kicks, one little nudge from her is all it takes to bring a smile to my face.
What organizations are near and dear to your heart?
Muttville! The Accounting department completed a volunteer day there in March, very impressed with what they do and their facilities (we built!). I personally just fostered some kittens with Mini Cat Town, it was a great experience to get the little kittens ready for adoption and have some cuddles along the way.
If you were on a deserted island, what three items would you make sure to have and why?
I believe in making the most of any situation, so I’d bring a hammock for optimal relaxation, a bottle of wine because even in the most challenging circumstances, a little “liquidity” goes a long way, and a wheel of brie because sometimes, you need to maintain a certain standard, even when you’re off the grid.
Finish this sentence. On Sunday mornings, you can usually find me...
You can usually find me enjoying a slow start in the backyard, listening to the birds and taking in the first blooms of the day. Then it’s breakfast and a walk or hike with my husband and our first baby, Roxie, our 15-year-old pup. We’re soaking up these sweet, quiet mornings together before our family grows by one in just a few short months.
