The Preconstruction Manager/Estimator will support the project teams in providing the most accurate and comprehensive financial and budget analysis.

The Ideal Candidate Has:

The Superintendent is responsible for the successful execution of the project in terms of cost, schedule, quality, and safety relative to field operations.

The Ideal Candidate Has:

•         5-10 + Years of field construction experience in commercial and industrial construction projects.
•         B.A. in Construction Management with 5+ years of field construction experience. The Superintendent will serve many functions including:
•         Develop and implement a project specific logistic plan for site staging, access, flows, safety, signage and security.
•         Establish protocols for visitors and sub mobilizations as they occur.
•         Coordinate with Project Manager or designee to assure that subcontractors have met the required compliance.
•         Conduct weekly subcontractor coordination meetings.
•         Development of the project specific safety manual with support from the Project Coordinator, Project Engineer or Project Manager.
•         Maintain all permit documents and current construction documents at the jobsite.
•         Produce thorough daily construction reports.
•         Develop the baseline project Master Schedule along with the assigned Project Manager.
•         Participate in Estimating Turnover – Project Kick-Off meeting and obtain a full understanding of overall project estimate.
•         Conduct periodic quality control inspections to assure installed work adheres to contractual quality requirements. Document these inspections.
•         Participate in all training sessions offered by Dome Construction such as job specific development, presentation skills and technical sessions.

Technical Function:

•         Must have strong working knowledge of all disciplines, particularly CSA trades, to resolve challenges, conflicts, design issues, etc. promptly and/or through assistance of specialists as required.

•         Appropriate knowledge of MEP disciplines is required for the coordination and verification of MEP installation progress.

•         Must have the ability to read and understand all plans and specification for each trade and enforce sub compliance.

•         Must have basic computer skills and be familiar with Microsoft Outlook and Office.

The Sr. BIM Engineer is responsible for coordinating BIM/VDC related activities conducted by our client and subcontractors. The Sr. BIM Engineer will produce and monitor the BIM/VDC related work on each project and ensure proper policies and procedures are being followed to ensure BIM/VDC efforts are efficiently integrated into the project workflow.

Note this position is remote, however we prefer close proximity to our offices (the SF bay area, Thousand Oaks, or San Diego).

 

Responsibilities for this position include the following:

 Assist with the project team coordination process by:

  • Assess accuracy and completeness of designer/trade models
  • Trades modeled may include: Structural, Mechanical, Plumbing, Electrical, Fire Protection, Metal Framing, Specialty systems etc.
  • Compile coordination models from designers/trades making a merged or federated model
  • Review and document relevant coordination model issues
  • Facilitate meetings between coordination team to address and resolve issues
  • Benchmark and record agreed model content for use in the field
  • Take notes during coordination meeting
  • Assist the BIM Department Manager in preparing BIM/BIM Guidelines for project specific requirements (ITBs, Execution Plans, etc)

Overview of the Position:

The ideal candidate must have 3+ years experience working on MEP coordination on commercial construction projects. The MEP Coordinator is responsible for the overall coordination of the Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Medical Gas, Building Automation Systems (BAS), Fire Alarm, Fire Protection, and Data/IT electrical trades, who will work alongside our MEP Team.

The MEP Coordinator thoroughly understands the MEP designs through review of Basis of Design, Drawings (plans), specifications and applicable code requirements. Understands the design intent of Architectural Design Documents including interfaces with Architectural, Structural, and Civil Design Consultants and trade partners. Reviews contract documents and makes suggestions/modifications as they relate to MEPF trades. The MEP Coordinator combines a wide technical knowledge of these fields with the management skills necessary to coordinate the work of a variety of different employees both within the office and field environments.

Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent education desired.

5+ years construction experience, with 3+ dedicated to MEP.

Responsibilities

• Preconstruction design review and constructability coordination.

• Reviewing and monitoring construction installations, field installation coordination and technical problem solving.

• MEP system start-up, testing, commissioning and acceptance.

Requirements:

  • Responsible for estimating support, subcontractor bid reviews, scheduling, project logistics, and constructability reviews as it relates to MEP systems.
  • Support both pre-construction and the project team in reviewing trade partners estimates and costs as it relates to design changes
  • Manage the owner-architect interface in the planning and installation of the following systems: electrical, HVAC, automation, plumbing, process piping, low voltage systems, fire/life safety, and fire protection design/construction coordination (validated and non-validated systems).
  • Participate in the review of all MEP related shop drawings and submittals
  • Assist in the development of full commissioning plans for all MEP systems that identify and define the following: all test requirements, required inspections, factory start-up of major equipment, factory acceptance testing, project and vendor documentation requirements, and integrated test plans demonstrating full system operations.
  • Oversee coordination of MEP systems through the project virtual design and construction process.
  • Responsible for onsite construction support for MEP systems and will oversee the start-up, balancing, commissioning and validation certification of these systems, including owner training and project closeout.
  • Develop and oversee project-specific MEP quality and safety programs, including leading safety cause mapping for post MEP safety events
  • Good working knowledge with building facilities; Life Sciences (cGMP, GLP) Manufacturing - labs, Critical Facilities, Electronics.
