Introducing Brian Medina, Project Executive

I love being able to drive around the Bay Area and show my kids the various projects I've worked on.
We’re proud to announce the promotion of Brian Medina to Project Executive — a well-earned recognition of 16 years of industry experience, a career built on genuine craftsmanship, and a leadership style rooted in listening, learning, and delivering.
From Heavy Civil to High-Tech: A Career Built on Breadth
Brian’s path to Project Executive is anything but linear, and that’s precisely what makes him so effective. After earning dual degrees in Finance and Economics from Santa Clara University, he spent his first five years at Granite Construction, learning the fundamentals of heavy civil infrastructure — underground utilities, grading, paving, and concrete. He then spent nearly a decade at Barry Swenson Builders/SWENSON, where he honed his expertise in hospitality, multi-family, and mixed-use development in San Jose.
When the opportunity to join Dome arose, Brian made a deliberate choice: he wanted to work with the life science and technology clients shaping the future of the Bay Area. Since joining Dome, he’s delivered on that vision — leading complex tenant improvement projects for major tech and corporate clients, including a 248,000 SF campus workplace buildout across two cold-shell buildings and a multi-floor office renovation for a repeat client. His portfolio reflects the range that defines Dome’s work: precision, complexity, and client trust.
What Drives Him
Brian doesn’t overcomplicate what motivates him. “I’m motivated by the opportunity to keep growing — expanding my knowledge, developing new skills, and staying open to better ways of doing things,” he says. “Working with diverse teams, learning from others’ perspectives, and contributing to shared goals energizes me and leads to stronger outcomes than working in isolation.”
That orientation toward collaboration is matched by a deliberate approach to leadership. When asked how he continues to grow as a leader, Brian’s answer is characteristically grounded: “Being open to feedback, seeking different perspectives, and a focused effort on listening twice as much as speaking.”
His father-in-law, Ron Coté — whose 40+ year career in the construction industry left a lasting mark — reinforced values that Brian carries into every project: the importance of creating lasting relationships with clients and trade partners, being honest and true to your word, and recognizing that contributions from all levels on the jobsite drive the success of the whole.
Looking Ahead
As Project Executive, Brian steps into a role with a full plate and a clear sense of purpose. In the remainder of FY 2026, he’s focused on delivering a new Class 100 clean room, supporting renovations at two existing facilities for a new product line, completing a three-floor office tenant improvement for a repeat client, and investing in the professional development of his team — including adding new members to Dome’s Campus Workplace and Technology group.
His career lesson of choice is short, but it says a lot: “Work hard, have fun, and enjoy the process.”
And his personal mantra — “How you do anything is how you do everything” — reflects a standard of care that shows up whether he’s managing a multi-hundred-thousand-square-foot buildout or taking his dog Ozzy for a Sunday morning walk.
About Brian
When he’s not on a job site or reviewing plans, you’ll find Brian on the soccer sidelines cheering on his kids, keeping up with his wife on a neighborhood run, or catching an episode of Diary of a CEO or Men in Blazers. He was born in Mexico and has a goal he’s quietly working toward: learning to speak Spanish fluently. Three words he’d use to describe himself: reliable, honest, curious.
One of Brian’s favorite things about this work? “I love being able to drive around the Bay Area and show my kids the various projects I’ve worked on.”
That’s the kind of pride in craft that Dome is built on. Congratulations, Brian — we can’t wait to see what you build next.
