Introducing Bobby Marshall, Project Executive

We’re proud to announce Bobby Marshall’s promotion to Project Executive!

With over a decade in construction and a career that started right here at Dome, we’re excited to spotlight Bobby Marshall, Project Executive, and celebrate the impact he’s had on our teams, projects, and clients. Let’s take a moment to get to know Bobby and his journey to Project Executive.

Bobby’s path into construction began as an intern at Dome, working on the Novartis POSS project. It was there that he was introduced to the complex and rewarding world of Life Science facilities. “I was lucky to learn from some of Dome’s most experienced team members, Steve Ballardo, Ralf Elsaesser, Corrie Weise, and Dan Allen,” Bobby shared. “That experience really set the tone for how I approach projects today.”

After graduating from Cal Poly with a degree in Civil Engineering, Bobby returned to Dome as a Project Engineer and spent his early years at Genentech. “Those first few years were a crash course in Life Sciences construction; shutdowns, utility upgrades, and working inside manufacturing buildings. It gave me a strong foundation in how these facilities operate and what it takes to build them right.”

Since then, Bobby has led some of Dome’s largest and most technically complex projects, including two cGMP manufacturing facilities and the new West Coast headquarters and pilot plant for Astellas. “These projects taught me how critical teamwork and collaboration are. You can’t do this work alone, it takes a strong, aligned team to deliver at this level.”

As we look ahead to the rest of FY 2025, Bobby is focused on two major milestones: wrapping up the BioMérieux Lab and Office T.I. project and kicking off the SLAC LSCC project. “We’ve put in a lot of hard work, and I’m proud of what our team has accomplished. I’m also excited to start SLAC, it’s a great opportunity to showcase what we can do and set the tone for another successful project.”

Every project brings new challenges, and I love the problem-solving aspect of what we do. But more than anything, I enjoy working with our team. We support each other, we have fun, and we get things done. That’s what makes this job so rewarding."

Bobby also credits much of his growth to mentorship, especially from Mike Norrdin. “Mike truly lives Dome’s values; Value Your People, Seek to Understand, and Do It Right. Watching how he leads, communicates, and supports his team has had a huge impact on me. He’s shown me that leadership isn’t about having all the answers, it’s about listening, being consistent, and doing the right thing, even when it’s hard.”

With a career rooted in Life Sciences, Bobby is always looking ahead to where the industry is going next. “We’re going to see tools like BIM, AI-powered scheduling, and risk management systems become a regular part of how projects are delivered. In Life Sciences, I think prefab will play a bigger role, especially for cleanrooms and labs. Clients want speed without sacrificing quality. We’ll also see sustainability become a baseline expectation, and more flexible lab spaces to support evolving research. It’s an exciting time to be in this space.”

When it comes to advice for others in the industry, Bobby has three key lessons. “First, get out in the field. Learn what we’re building and get to know the crews building it. That’s where the real learning happens. Second, get involved. Whether it’s a Dome event, a volunteer day, or an industry mixer. It helps you build a network and makes the experience more fun. And third, stay connected. Construction moves fast, and you’re always on to the next job. But the relationships you build are what carry you forward. Keep in touch with the people you work with, you never know when you’ll cross paths again.”

Bobby’s leadership, technical expertise, and people-first mindset continue to shape some of Dome’s most impactful work. We’re proud to have him on the team and excited to see what’s next!

Bobby’s Lasting Influence on his Teammates

Bobby’s leadership and mentorship have left a lasting impression on those around him, with teammates quick to share how he’s helped shape their growth and success. Taylor Partee, Project Engineer, shared, “From day one, Bobby has been an incredible mentor, always generous with his time and committed to helping others grow. He’s spent countless hours answering questions, offering guidance, and leading by example. His promotion is a reflection of the positive impact he’s had on all of us. Bobby’s going to thrive in this new role, and we’re lucky to have him leading the way.”

Richard Wu, Project Engineer, echoed that sentiment, highlighting Bobby’s intuition and leadership style. “Bobby has a sixth sense for knowing when a project is on track and when it needs a reset. He’s incredibly in tune with clients, aligning with their goals and building trust through his humor and authenticity. As a teammate, he strikes the perfect balance between accountability and support. He challenges you when needed but always focuses on solutions and growth. Working with Bobby means learning from the best and having fun while doing it. His promotion is well-earned, and I can’t wait to see what he accomplishes next.”

Senior Project Engineer May Hung added, “Bobby doesn’t just lead, he leads with empathy and an open mind. He creates an environment where we feel valued, supported, and empowered to grow together. That kind of leadership makes a lasting impact.”

Project Manager Erwin Perez shared, “Every team has that one person who just makes everything better, Bobby is that person for us. He’s the kind of teammate who lifts everyone up, always has your back, and leads without needing to say much. Bobby brings good vibes, works hard, and earns respect just by being himself. He’s humble, steady, and always focused on the bigger picture. We’re lucky to have him—he doesn’t just help the team succeed, he helps us grow together.”

Longtime colleague and friend Tim Conway shared his admiration, saying, “Over the last 10 years, I have had the pleasure of working alongside Bobby Marshall, and I am ecstatic to see his progression to Project Executive. He embodies Dome’s core values and is a true relationship builder. Beyond being one of the best in the industry, my favorite thing about Bobby is his genuine care and commitment to those around him. I look forward to seeing what he will accomplish in the next decade!”

Toys for Tots: This organization is near and dear to me not only because the mission is awesome, but because it is something I contribute to in memory of my friend, and past Domite, Pat.
