    The Sr. BIM Engineer is responsible for coordinating BIM/VDC related activities conducted by our client and subcontractors. The Sr. BIM Engineer will produce and monitor the BIM/VDC related work on each project and ensure proper policies and procedures are being followed to ensure BIM/VDC efforts are efficiently integrated into the project workflow.

    Note this position is remote, however we prefer close proximity to our offices (the SF bay area, Thousand Oaks, or San Diego).


    Responsibilities for this position include the following:

     Assist with the project team coordination process by:

    • Assess accuracy and completeness of designer/trade models
    • Trades modeled may include: Structural, Mechanical, Plumbing, Electrical, Fire Protection, Metal Framing, Specialty systems etc.
    • Compile coordination models from designers/trades making a merged or federated model
    • Review and document relevant coordination model issues
    • Facilitate meetings between coordination team to address and resolve issues
    • Benchmark and record agreed model content for use in the field
    • Take notes during coordination meeting
    • Assist the BIM Department Manager in preparing BIM/BIM Guidelines for project specific requirements (ITBs, Execution Plans, etc)

    Assist the BIM Project Manager in preparing BIM/BIM schedules for each project.

    Assist the BIM Project Manager and BIM Department Manager in training of project personnel in the use of BIM tools and workflows

    Compile data for field usage

    • Total station input and output
    • Drawing and model content for specific conditions outside other specific scopes

    Coordinate exchange of data relevant to larger project team

    • RFIs generated through BIM process
    • Document impact on submittals and approvals

    Learn to understand contractual and legal guidelines

    Able to work with and understand Point Clouds, either by verifying models derived from Point Clouds and understanding how to work with Point Clouds directly. Plus, if one can create model geometry from Point Clouds

    Ability to work in Navisworks Manage

    • Affectively setup and sort/group clashes for construction level coordination
    • Plus, if able to work in BIM 360 Coordinate, formerly BIM 360 Glue

    Able to work in Revit

    • Light modeling
    • Able to setup and use Revit Worksets
    • Able to create views
    • Manage Trade Partners and Design Partners in Revit related work
    • Able to extract PDF, DWG and or NWC files
    • Create and maintain library components for Revit (and related Autodesk Products)

    Able to work in AutoCAD

    • Light modeling
    • Understanding of Layers
    • Extract PDF and or NWC files

    Understanding of 4D, 5D and 6D and willingness to work in these environments when needed

    Compile contract BIM required close out documentation (6D packages where applicable)

    The ability to work in a variety of construction environments including commercial, educational, industrial and health care related projects

    Map processes used by BIM department for teaching, review, and improvement

    Mentor DOME Employees on modeling and coordination processes (including model navigation in various programs)

    Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects and deadlines.

    Willingness to pursue continued education on BIM and other CAD programs and skill sets

    Requirements for this position include the following:

    • A bachelor’s degree in construction management / technology or equivalent education and experience
    • 4-6 or more years of experience in the role of working projects supporting BIM/VDC effort. Experience working for a contractor is a plus.

    Software proficiency demonstrated in:

    • Autodesk® Revit®
    • Autodesk® AutoCAD®
    • Autodesk® Navisworks® Manage
    • Microsoft® Office Suite Products
    • Bluebeam

    Strong written and verbal communication skills

    • Interaction and coordination with staff and clients in different geographic locations.
    • Professional telephone manner

    Access to work from a home office and willing to come into office as required
