    Overview of the Position

    We seek an Assistant Controller to partner with the CFO to provide direction and leadership for the financial operations. The team consists of 13 people (including the CFO and Assistant Controller) and oversees accounting and finance functions. Due to the position’s seniority, the Assistant Controller is required to be onsite 4-5 days a week (once SIP has lifted).

    Required Education and Experience

    • BS/BA in Accounting, Finance.
    • CPA/or pertinent master’s degree favorable.
    • The ideal candidate will have experience as an Assistant Controller (or equivalent), with at least 3 years of experience at a public accounting firm, with 2+ years with a private firm.
    • Experience working within the construction industry a huge plus.

    • Deep understanding and fluency in Excel, Excel Query Tool, accounting software, and database management software.

    Functions

    1. Play a key role in the selection, implementation of any enhancements or changes in accounting systems. Partner cross-functionally to continuously improve company processes and efficiencies.
    2. Hands-on with the direction and coordination of accounting, budgeting, and other financial operations. Includes the sharing of administrative and technical supervision to staff personnel.
    3. Oversee monthly work in process computation and analysis.
    4. Calculate, analyze, and work with the management team to set labor rates based on the company policy and client contractual agreements.
    5. Provide in-service training and development of staff. Keep accounting function in step with the expansion and growth of the company.
    6. Perform additional duties as directed by CFO.

    Accounting Audit & Controls

    1. Manage the month-end closing and reconciliation process.
    2. Monitor cash balances and project cash flow.
    3. Oversee the preparation of required Federal and State financial and payroll reports and financial and related reports to the Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Executives. Responsible for tax compliance and regulatory reporting compliance.
    4. Interface with external auditors for reviews and audits.
    5. Maintain accounting practices according to GAAP.
    6. Assist with special projects as requested by CFO.
    7. Work with CFO on financial projections, financial modeling, and sensitivity analyses.

    IT Systems & Workflow Processes

    1. Design systems and controls which meet policy standards as set by Management.
    2. Stays current with the latest technology, evaluate with management, and implement on a timely basis.
    3. Ensure that all accounting activities and functions are met within set time frames.
    4. Develop and improve, monitor, and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Oversee maintenance documentation of accounting policies, systems, and procedures.
