Since joining Dome, 6 years ago, Jackson hasn’t stopped climbing. In 2016, he and his East Bay team opened our Emeryville office. In 2017, he was promoted from Senior Project Manager to Associate Director.  And now, in 2020, he becomes Director and Shareholder—a testament to his work, his leadership, and his warm-hearted personality.

In this new role, as Director, Jackson plans to continue to build, grow, and mentor his team to provide them with opportunities for their future, all while, expanding their business in the East Bay.

Jackson lives in the East Bay with his wife, Karen, and their Yellow and Red Labs, Madison and Ruby. They have two children, James and Courtney. Courtney is a 1st-grade teacher, who is married to Jeremy. His son, James also works at Dome and is married to Jessica. The couple recently had their first baby together, who is named after his grandfather, Jackson.

In 2014, Jackson joined the Dome team as a Senior Project Manager. With an impressive resume, deep-rooted in the Biotech industry, Jackson added more than just his expertise—he added to our culture.

Growing up, Jackson’s interest in construction was sparked by his father and grandfather who were both in the industry. He was determined to pave his own way—which led him to the front edge of the Biotech and Semiconductor industry. After attending Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Jackson began his career at Kinetics Systems, in 1984. Jackson climbed his way up the ranks, beginning in the field as an Apprentice before making his way to a Senior Project Manager.

Over the course of his 24-year tenure at Kinetics, Jackson managed complex, and technically challenging Biotech and Pharma projects that laid the foundation and added to the extensive industry knowledge he has today. Upon leaving Kinetics, Jackson joined a Construction Management firm where he spent another 5 years before making his way to Dome.

We interviewed Jackson to learn more about who he is and to get a better understanding of what he’s looking forward to in his new Role.

What brought you into the construction industry?

My father and grandfather were also in the construction industry. I made my path and was on the front edge of the Biotech Industry and Semiconductor Industry,  it was so fulfilling to be one of those people.

What do you like most about construction?

I enjoy and love building places that help save people’s lives. We are building spaces for clients that invent and make new treatments, new immunotherapies, new drugs, etc.

What do you like most about the company and your job?

I like that Dome’s core values align with mine, and I love my job because I get to help people grow in their careers.

What is the best part of your job?

I feel like I am “home” here, and that it is where I am meant to be. It feels like we are a family here.

I also get to help people and provide them with opportunities. I also get to be on projects that are leading-edge technologies that can and will help make the world a better place for everyone.

What do you think other people should know about Dome Construction?

That Dome is really what it looks like. Our leadership leads by example and they truly care about every person on the team. This truly is a family.

What are you looking forward to most about your promotion?

Providing opportunities to my Dome East Bay Team and expanding our business.

What advice would you give your younger self?

Be patient with your career. In my case, I was able to get to a company that I have always wanted to be at, and all of my previous experiences are what got me to Dome.

How do you see Dome developing in the next 5 years?

It is truly amazing that we have come so far in the last 5 years.  In the next 5 years, I see Dome continuing on its path to becoming “The General Contractor of Choice”, where the best talent wants to work.  And I also see us having a 100% employee retention rate because our culture continues to become better and better. I see our clients seeking us out even more than they do now. I guess, in reality, I see us continuing on our current path, but evolving and growing to become even better.

Tell us about a project or accomplishment that you consider to be the most significant in your career.

The most significant accomplishment in my career is that people, anyone who works with me, knows beyond a doubt that I am honest and will always do the right thing for them and give them 110% of me.

What might someone be surprised to know about you?

That I was an Eagle Scout and that I still believe in those values.
